Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro Specs
May 05, 2021
Google is expected to release the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro this year, and the rumors are flying about what new features the newest phone from Google will include. The larger and faster Pixel 6 Pro will be the first with the “Pro” naming scheme; earlier versions were called Pixel XL.
There are a couple different features that reviewers are pretty sure will be included based on leaked information. One is Google’s first silicone chipset, said to be able to compete directly with Apple’s M1. The new chip is a GS101 called Whitechapel.
Another that has caused considerable chatter is the new camera bump. Some people are calling the bump a belt—it’s a wide swath of raised glass that houses the camera lenses and flash inside, protecting them from dirt and wear. The Pixel 6 will have two camera lenses within the bump on its back side, and the 6 Pro—a slightly larger phone—will have three lenses enclosed. Some experts think one of the lenses will be a periscope lens with a spectral/flicker sensor. Those lenses take up more space than other lenses, which could explain the new horizonal lens design.
The new Pixel 6 phones will continue to sport Google’s signature color block design, with the black camera bump dividing the upper and lower blocks that sport different colors.
